Olessia and I took him to the post office in Manhattan to apply for his first passport. He took in everything like a champ! He wasn’t phased by the sounds and motions of the train. He wasn’t bothered by the ambulance that blared down the street. He did draw the line at bathroom hand driers and freaked out.
We met and talked with a bunch of people. This is something that didn’t happen much back in Cleveland. One family we met had with them a 15 day old baby who was getting her first passport. D and I met a little girl named Mira. She wanted to see D up close. Everyone here has been really nice.
While waiting for the train, there was a guy singing and playing guitar. D was NOT a fan of David Bowie’s Major Tom. While listening, an old lady walked by. It was one of those old lady types who constantly have a bit of a frown on their face. She cracked a half smile when she spotted D.
It’s fun to see the touristy crowd out on the weekend versus the work crowd I normally see. On the weekend, no one is in a hurry. People are wearing more colors. The bike peddlers were rather aggressive today. During the week, they ignore me, but not today. Olessia and the stroller gave me up. 🙂 Oh, and the smells were just wonderful today. It smelled of street food. I might have been hungry though.
