I was up in Bristol, CT for Thursday and Friday for a hackathon. Lots of good stuff (and stuff I couldn’t post). But I think ours is safe to post – it was on the light strip I did for our NYC office. I figured the Bristol office could use one and I just hadn’t had the time to put one together. So this worked out nicely AND I got to do it with some new coworkers. I think they had a great time building their own light strips, wiring it them up to Slack, and playing with the color options. We didn’t win. This was one of the least stressful projects I’ve worked on and one that seemed to draw the crowd while we were building and tinkering.
If you’re wondering, the light strip is from Adafruit. It’s managed by an Arduino and controlled by a Raspberry Pi. Each LED is individually addressable (meaning you can control each light individually). We’ve wired it up to Fabric and Slack for realtime analytics and command-and-control.
