This week, I’m switching over from using an Android device to using an iOS device full time. I’m going to give it a whirl and see how it goes.
In the past, I had been developing for Android. Lately though, I’ve been focused on iOS and AppleTV. Figure I should be dog fooding the platform, apps, and what not full time instead of part time. I’ll likely still carry the Android phone (Samsung S10) until I find it’s no longer useful.
So Thursday I had gone out to make use of my Disney discount at the Apple store and got myself an iPhone XR and a 4th gen iWatch. I’m so far really impressed. Note, I’ve been fiddling with iPhones since an iPhone 3GS (for comparison, I’ve been on Android since the Motorola Atrix). The iWatch has me a bit bummed with the number of watch faces available, but that’s really about it. The watch faces that are available are high quality. And everything else on the watch seems very nicely executed compared to Android Wear (or WearOS now days).
First up, running iOS now puts me in alignment with what Olessia has (iPhone 8 + iWatch). So now when I setup things to work on my iPhone – like Apple Home, she benefits.
We just switched over from a Roku 3 device to a 4th gen AppleTV as our primary over-the-top (OTT) box. I’m looking forward to interfacing with that more often as well as my Mac.
So it’ll be a bit of an experiment to see how the transition goes. Can I get it so I only need to carry the iPhone around? Instead carrying both it and my Android device. I’ll see how it goes…
