I’ve watched a video of a forklift loading bodies into a truck trailer.
I’ve seen bits of video of the Elmhurst hospital and how swamped they are. I’ve seen bits of video from the Jamaica hospital, which seems packed, but much calmer. The Elmhurst hospital is about 6 miles from us. The Jamaica one is about 1 mile.
It is now a $500 fine if a New Yorker ignores the social distancing rules. Word is the city has had problems with people at the parks so those may get shutdown soon. (We’ve not gone to any parks since March 11th or so.)
The USNS Comfort with 1000 hospital beds comes to NYC. It’s not meant to handle the COVID-19 cases. It’ll be for trauma patients and non-COVID-19 overflow.

News today: “Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park” (https://www.wsj.com/articles/queens-stadium-to-be-converted-into-temporary-hospital-in-coronavirus-fight-11585605068). We can see Corona Park and the stadium from our apartment. This is in addition to the 1000 or so beds they’re adding in Queens at the horse track.

The news. images, and video have been tough to digest.
We (family) are doing fine. We haven’t been able to get out for any walks for the past few days, mostly because of the weather. Otherwise, we stay put.
I wonder what Dmitri will think of all of this as he gets older.
