NYC COVID-19, Wednesday

I’ve kind of given up on counting the days… This is going to take a while. They say the first NYC case of COVID-19 was around March 1st (a month ago). It was around March 10th when word came at the office that if we could work from home, to work from home. I was in the office on the 11th. I didn’t realize that would be the last time I’d be there for a good while. Fortunately, there wasn’t much I needed from there that I could find at home or order. We’ve been inside most of this time. We’ve ventured out for groceries, walks (although this week, we haven’t gone out for a walk once), and occasionally step out on our balcony for air.

Additional ambulances, at the direction of FEMA, are on their way to NYC. Per https://www.reddit.com/r/nyc/comments/fsramk/look_an_ambulance_caravan_is_on_their_way_to_new/. In general, sirens are pretty common here. They do seem to be more constant the past week or so. Today seemed mellow, although that could be because we’ve gotten used to them.

I have an ADS-B receiver which monitors north facing air traffic. Usually throughout the day it’s tracking 90-120 aircraft. During the now, it’s doing about 16. Traffic has really dropped off. The traffic that is still going appears to be cargo (FedEx/UPS) or small aircraft.

Someone on Reddit put some numbers together to show the rate of infection in NYC by zip code. We’re in 11435 which is between LGA and JFK airports.
