MTA Nostalgia Train

The MTA was running their nostalgia train today. D has been excited about trains for a bit now so today was a big train ride day.

We hopped on the LIRR and got into Manhattan really quick (15 minutes versus at least 45 minutes). We ended up at Penn Station so we hopped on a C train to catch an F train. Once on the F, we got off at the 2nd Ave station and realized the nostalgia train departs every 2 hours and we were on the wrong hour. It was a good time for lunch…

We had lunch at Lucky’s (it was alright). Then packed up and returned to 2nd Ave and there was the train. It was a train the MTA took delivery of back in the 1930s. It was almost as crowded like a rush hour F train. A number of people were dressed up in 1920-1940s clothes and a lot of photos were taken. We were traveling super light so no stroller and no big camera. I just have a couple photos from my cell.

We road the older train on up to 57th and then hopped on a regular service F train to head home.
