Looks like its going to be about 3 days before it rains again! The guy
who is going to put my new concrete in said he’d be out today. He’s
going to have some competition for street space since my neighbor across
the street is having their concrete put in too. All their trucks and
equipment has them blocking a good chunk of the street.

I autocrossed this last weekend (May 23rd). For the first
time my head wasn’t into it. I don’t know if it was the weather or if I
had other things on my mind. I had a good time. It was out at
Hartville Market which is between Akron and Canton. The course was huge
and I only walked it once. And when I did walk it, it wasn’t a quality
walk. I did get to sleep in on Sunday though and that was good. The
event didn’t start until 12 noon which is much later then our regular
events. I had my camera system with me. Something doesn’t like being
in the sun and I’m thinking my video camera is freaking out versus the
cheap camera mounted on the car. I’ll be looking into this…

One of the tricks I learned was how to pipe email to a script of my
choice. Now I can post news from my email client!
Mozi (the lizard) met Power (the cat). Powder thinks Mozi is a new play mate. Mozi doesn’t mind Powder, unless Powder is sniffing him. Then Mozi runs which triggers Powder. Then I have to seperate the two. No one has been injured. But Powder doesn’t realize Mozi is not a toy.

After spending mucho dollars on regular maintenance and 2 needed repairs, the Teg is back in top shape. The repairs made a huge difference in drive-ability. I think I still have house money left over.

AXTime.com got updated this evening.
Had an idea brewing for the past month or so and hadn’t been able to get it to percolate. For some reason, this afternoon it materialized and in an almost crystal clear form. Odd. They usually don’t come to me like that. Sadly, I was busy with AXTime.com and didn’t get a chance to hammer away at my idea.

So back in 2000 I picked up Rand McNally’s “Deluxe” bundle which included TripMaker, StreetFinder, and a GPS unit. The 3 worked well together and I was pleasantly surprised how accurate and quickly the GPS unit would lock on. This setup navigated me out of some funky Miami neighborhoods.
Fast forward to today and I find the 2000 edition doesn’t run well on XP (even their GPS unit doesn’t work with their software). Their GPS unit does work with Netstumbler. So I picked up the Rand McNally’s 2004 edition and still no go. Contacted tech support and no luck there either. I bought Delorme’s Streets & Maps (or something like that) which came bundled with their GPS unit. The software has taken a little bit of time to get used to, but is surprisingly easy to use. The voice prompting works well although gets a little lost in with all the noise in the car (patching it through to the cassette deck works well).
So now I have 2 GPS units. Delorme’s Earthmate seems to work well across all my software. But what will I do with the Rand McNally one? Wardrive! The Rand McNally unit still works with Netstumbler and I leave it on COM2. I’ve got the Earthmate setup on COM4. Now when I wardrive, I can plot the WAPs and keep track of where I’ve been on the map. Is it practical? Heck no! But still a lot of fun!

Its ALMOST time to put the summer tires on. Next week still has snow forecasted. My summer tires are definitely not rated for snow or ice.
Also car related, I’ve just about fixed all my Tein coilovers (spring perches fused together preventing them to be adjusted and therefore changing the ride height). I’ll probably have them mounted in May.

Plus it will tell you who the IP network block owner is (handy for figuring out who the Internet service provider (ISP) is) as well as does a DNS lookup to find out the domain name owner information. Lost 3 hours because the web server didn’t like the CR/LF to be in Mac flavor. Finally switched the file to PC flavor and the script in question worked like a charm.

I found a chunk of PHP based AIM/TOC protocol code and built some more code around it. LizardMozi is online and is running off of it. Also, the bot now has a socket server listening so other apps can interact with the bot as well. You can find all of this in the Web Dev section.
