Triangle Solver

More or less a beta version (its been tested, but not stress tested). Its coded for the TI-89. The ASCII/Text versions are posted as well in case someone has the urge to convert it for another calculator. Its been a while since I’ve done any TI BASIC coding so this was hammered out without too much thought in organizing the code.

Text version
TI ASCII Program version
TI-89 Program (right-click and save-as)

To use, just provide 3 parts of the triangle and the program will calculate the other 3 parts. If there’s 2 solutions available, it will produce the 2nd solution as well.

Trig Formulas Online

I finally got around to posting my collection of trig formulas (handy for pre-calc). You can find them here:

Pre-Calc Trig Formulas (TI-89 text file) – or – PC text version – You’ll need to use a TI font (such as TI-92 Mini Sans) to view on your PC. But in theory, may transfer over without problems on to other TIs (such as TI-85,83,82,etc). Just copy the text (with all the goofy characters) over to the TI GraphLink Program Editor and save it as a program (it won’t run so you’ll need to go to Program Edit on your calculator)

Brumation

The apartment got really chilly last night (terrible insulation on the sliding door and the apartment management is not excited about fixing it). It looked as though Mozi was going to call it a season and nap. He did move to his basking site and hung out with his eyes half open. I figure by this weekend he’s going to shut down till the next time change…

Pre-Calc – The saga continues

In a once in a lifetime occurance, I managed to score a 90 out of 100 on my pre-calc test – part deux. I found out from the prof I had the highest score in that class, although not the highest score between her two classes (highest was a 94). Then add on the 10 bonus points for doing the review! I can’t get too comfy-cozy and slack off in this class. Just roughly 4 more weeks!

Problems Do Have Solutions

This I think this was the theme for this weekend.

I added a 2nd monitor to my workhorse PC. It rejected the nVidia flavored one by not even booting or getting past POST. Went back to the store and found an ATI flavored one. Life was good but the PC became highly unstable (would lock up after doing something remotely constructive). I took a break and came back and removed all the cards. PC was stable. Added 2nd video card. Still stable. Added the sound card. Life is good. Looks like the modem is going to left out…

The Teg went in for service this weekend too. Heat sheilds were replaced. Upon replacement, the dealer points out the check engine light (CEL) is on (and acts like its been on the for the past couple months and asked how I could have missed it). They checked it out and its a $600-ish O2 sensor/module that is being reported as malfunctioning. Surprisingly, its still under warrant (the car is 7 years old).

Whoo hoo! My U. Akron account is functional!

Figured I get it re-instated since, what? The technology fee is something like $150?

So now I have my @uakron.edu email address. I’ve had it since ’96 and really was kind of missing it for the last 6 months. They also re-activated my gozips web site. That was almost a blast from the past, but it doesn’t have much on it so not really…

It was a great excuse to sign up for another class! So I’m back in pre-calc. Fun fun fun…
